The "miss underestimated" President

"I will not give up - and if only Laura and my dog Barney to mic believe h" (GW Bush to Bob Woodward)

Almost two years is it since he and the White House to Barack Obama has passed - and yet George W. Bush, 43 President of the United States of America, always good for lively Bargespräche. And, "excited" is perhaps an understatement: still divides this man and his policies and opinions the controversy surrounding him to be out with a vehemence that surprised. Still you defend him with ideological zeal or hate from my heart or with a similar ideological zeal. What has this to politicians that the spirits can divorce him so wonderful?

When Bush to Texas and moved Obama, the messiah of all "progressive" thinking old Europeans the business of government handed - only to be elected are received, the new president of the Oslo Nobel Academy pardon then an Oscar ... a peace
Nobel Peace Prize - told a correspondent in Echo der Zeit " on Radio DRS 2 (I think it was Erich Gysling): "Anyway, Bush has left traces in his eight years, more than any president before him."

two campaigns (in Afghanistan and Iraq), a reorganization of the complicated world that has become the nineties with the Bush Doctrine ("Either you are with us or against us") and it consequently derived the "Axis of Evil ", which refused to sign the KyotoProtoklls and the subsequent crisis of climate research ... in key issues, all little people at the beginning of the 21st Century employ as has this man apparently left a deep mark.

lack of creative will, you can certainly accuse him of not whether one agrees now with how and where or not the. Even the sharpest critics will acknowledge that. A "lame duck" was not this president.

Is the world after 8 years of George W. Bush a worse or better than before? what lessons we must learn history from 9 / 11 and the way this president has reacted to this? And even with the numerous mistakes made by this president: how serious are they in the long run? Did you also here in Europe in the zero years not sometimes - though perhaps from the ptik Moment and rightly so - about responding?

Thinking about it may be beneficial, especially now, years later. Most of us are very conscious memories of the last decade. And that beacon was at the beginning: the 11th September 2001! As we have seen that, stunned, elementary, with its overwhelming force image has shaped us and everything that is related is related to Bush. Maybe we are therefore less sensitive. We can still be seen in the denial phase and resist us to the world as it actually is.

here is a tentative list of all of the things that Bush may have made but not as bad - or at least brought to an end successfully and consistently - has:

first No new attacks after 9 / 11 on American soil. A dozen planned was foiled.

second No country is home to more terrorists and sponsors or is in serious trouble if it does.

third "The Surge". The object of the Rumsfeld strategy and troop surge in Iraq, which has only brought the peace there.

4th Kyoto: a lot of cheating and one-sided scaremongering of the climate preachers were exposed. They must prove their case better before the economy and jobs wantonly harm.

5th Gleneagles summit billion package for Africa and the fight against AIDS in South Africa.

6th Tax cuts for whole term (about 37 billion dollars, the people had to serve, especially the middle class)

7th "No Child Left Behind" initiative to promote Great reading and writing skills in schools.

8th "Bailout": banks based and thus possibly prevent worse (no domino effect in the crash of large banks)

9th Stem cell research: it has advanced by appropriate legislation.

10th Federal Rich Terer Warning: abortion, gay marriage and drug liberalization of for the time table.

And what do you think? Has the world become a better or worse? As one might have a different response to 9 / 11? Or is Bush the worst president ever since?
